The Complete Recovery Guide

A comprehensive protocol for post-Tuesday healing.

I. The Hour-by-Hour Protocol

12:00 AM — The Transition

Midnight: Tuesday Ends

The moment the clock strikes midnight, Tuesday is over. Your body may not believe it yet. Your cortisol levels are still elevated. Your inbox is still full of things that happened on Tuesday. But Wednesday has arrived, and Wednesday is gentle.

  • Close your laptop. Whatever is in that email can wait.
  • Drink a glass of water. Dehydration amplifies Tuesday trauma.
  • Set your alarm 15 minutes later than usual. You've earned it.
6:00 AM — Morning Protocol

The Gentle Awakening

Do NOT check your phone immediately. The notifications are all from Tuesday. They are Tuesday's problem. Wednesday doesn't inherit Tuesday's messes — that's Thursday's worry.

  • Stretch for 47 seconds. Not 46. Not 48. 47.
  • Look out a window. Confirm that the world still exists.
  • Make your bed. This is the only productive thing required before 9 AM.
9:00 AM — Gentle Re-Entry

Easing Back In

You may now engage with responsibilities, but slowly. Think of yourself as a deep-sea diver returning to surface pressure. Ascend too fast and you'll get the bends. The work bends. They're real and they're painful.

  • Reply to exactly 3 emails. No more. Three is Wednesday's number.
  • If someone says "per my Tuesday email," you are allowed to sigh audibly.
  • Cancel any meeting that was scheduled on Tuesday. It was scheduled in pain.
12:00 PM — Midday Recovery

The Turning Point

By noon, you should be feeling approximately 60% human. This is normal. Full humanity returns between 3 and 5 PM depending on the severity of the Tuesday that preceded.

6:00 PM — Evening Restoration

Full Recovery

You made it. The worst is behind you. Thursday approaches with quiet competence. Thursday doesn't need a website. Thursday doesn't need a recovery protocol. Be like Thursday. Aspire to Thursday energy.

II. Nutrition Protocol

What you eat on Wednesday directly impacts your recovery speed. These meals have been optimized for post-Tuesday cortisol reduction.

Breakfast
🥞
Comfort carbs. Pancakes, toast, oatmeal. Nothing that requires effort.
Lunch
🍲
Soup. Always soup. Soup has never caused a meeting. Soup is safe.
Snack
🍫
Chocolate. The darker the better. Studies show* it helps.
Dinner
🍕
Anything you didn't have to cook. Order in. You survived Tuesday.

*Studies conducted by people who really like chocolate.

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do NOT schedule things for next Tuesday while recovering. This is the most common relapse trigger. Your Wednesday brain will think "oh, Tuesday won't be that bad." Your Wednesday brain is an optimist and a liar.

Do NOT open Slack/Teams "just to check." There is nothing in Slack that can't wait until Thursday. If it was truly urgent, someone would call you. They won't, because they're also recovering.

Do NOT say "at least it's not Monday." Monday is an amateur. Tuesday is the professional.
